Dear friends, I am not sure if I'm writing to correct place, but hope you'll redirect this question to corresponding department.
During few years of bicycle fixing I had a deal with many shimano hubs and I've noticed that bearings in many of them (even those brand new) are tightened a bit more than needed, giving slight cracking noice and vibration when rotating, that you can feel by fingers when holding the wheel by the axis.
I've also noticed that some of the hubs work fine more than 15k miles without any signs of heavy wearing in the bearings. But some of them (I suspect that these are those overtightened), show signs of deterioration even in few weeks of riding.
My question is following: is that normal that some new shimano hubs bearings are overtightened?
Thank you in advance for your answer. Best regards, Vladimir.

Hi Vladimir,
Thanks for contacting us.
All our hubs are tightened within a certain margin. There might be a little difference in tightening, but it should always be in this margin.
Only reason for hub bearings to be overtightened could be a dealer who has tightened it a bit further.
Kind regards, Shimano
